Boiler Installation in South London

South London is where most of our work comes from, and that is not an accident of marketing. It is where our engineers live, where our vans start the day, and where twenty years of jobs have taught us what is behind the walls. A boiler installation in South London is a job we have done in that street before, more often than not.

The region is not one thing, though. The Victorian and Georgian stock of Greenwich, Lewisham and Southwark behaves nothing like the interwar suburbia of Bexley and Bromley, which behaves nothing like the large period houses of Wimbledon, Richmond and Dulwich, which behaves nothing like the post-war estates and new-build blocks along the river. Sizing a boiler correctly means knowing which of those you are standing in. That is the whole argument for using someone local rather than a national installer working off a phone questionnaire.

We cover twelve South London boroughs for boiler installation, servicing and repairs, plus solar, smart thermostats and air conditioning. Greenwich, Bexley and Wimbledon are where we are busiest and have their own pages below, with the local planning constraints and housing stock set out in detail. If your borough is not one of those three, we still cover you, and the same engineers do the work.

Property Types Across South London

Four broad patterns cover most South London property, and they cut across borough boundaries rather than following them.

Inner Victorian & Georgian Terraces

Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth and inner Wandsworth. Solid walls, high heat loss, no cavity and very little loft. Frequently in conservation areas, which decides the flue position before anything else does. Routinely under-boilered by installers who size off the appliance already on the wall.

Interwar Suburbia

Bexley, Bromley, Sutton, Croydon and outer Merton. Three-bed semis with an airing cupboard cylinder and a loft tank. The classic combi conversion, and the region's most common heating job, subject to a mains flow rate test that takes ten minutes and is skipped far too often.

Large Period Houses

Wimbledon, Richmond, Dulwich, Blackheath and Beckenham. Multiple bathrooms, high demand, and the properties where fitting a combi because it is cheaper produces a system nobody is happy with. System boiler plus unvented cylinder is usually the correct specification.

Post-War Estates & Riverside New-Builds

Thamesmead, Kidbrooke, the Greenwich Peninsula, Woolwich, Nine Elms and the Croydon towers. A mix of individual boilers, communal heat networks with heat interface units, and older electric heating. Long pipe runs and radiators sized for a much hotter flow temperature than a condensing boiler wants to run at.

Why Use a South London Installer

The practical arguments, rather than the marketing ones.

Same-Day Reach on Breakdowns

Our vans start the day south of the river. For a total loss of heating or hot water in our core boroughs we aim for same-day where the call comes in during the morning. A firm dispatching from the other side of London cannot honestly promise that in traffic, whatever the website says.

Local Planning Knowledge

Greenwich has 23 conservation areas and Article 4 directions, Merton has 28, Bexley has 16. Whether your flue is legal where you want it is a borough-by-borough question, and getting it wrong means an enforcement notice and a second installation at your cost. We check the designation before we quote.

Hard Water, Every Borough

All of South London is a hard water area. It is why plate heat exchangers fail early, why an unflushed system voids a new boiler's warranty, and why every install we do leaves with a magnetic filter and the correct inhibitor dose. An installer who does not mention water hardness has not thought about how long your boiler will last.

One Firm, All the Work

Boiler, solar, battery, smart controls and air conditioning from the same company means one survey and one system design rather than four contractors specifying around each other. It matters most when a boiler replacement and a solar install happen within a year or two of each other, which is increasingly how people are doing it.

Boiler Installation in South London FAQ

Which South London boroughs do you cover?
Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Kingston upon Thames, Lambeth, Lewisham, Merton, Richmond upon Thames, Southwark, Sutton and Wandsworth. Greenwich, Bexley and Wimbledon are where we work most and have their own detailed pages. We also cover the rest of London and Essex, so if you are north of the river we still come to you.
Do you charge more to travel across South London?
No. There is no travel surcharge and no call-out fee dressed up as one. The quote you get is a fixed price for the work, and where you are inside our coverage area does not change it. If you are outside the area we will say so rather than quoting a job we cannot service properly.
How fast can you reach a breakdown in South London?
For no heating or no hot water we aim to be with you the same day if you call in the morning, and next day otherwise. That is genuinely achievable in our core South London boroughs because our engineers start the day here. Ring 07538 192738 rather than using the contact form if the boiler is actually down.
How much does a boiler installation cost in South London?
It depends on the property far more than on the postcode. A straight combi-for-combi swap in a Bexley semi and a system boiler with an unvented cylinder in a Wimbledon villa are different jobs with different prices, which is why we survey before quoting rather than publishing a headline figure that will not apply to you. The survey and the quote are free, the price is fixed, and finance is available to spread it.
How much is a boiler service in South London?
£79 for an annual boiler service and £69 for a landlord CP12 gas safety certificate, the same everywhere we cover. That is the price of the visit, not a call-out charge with the work billed on top.
Are you Gas Safe registered?
Yes. Every engineer working on gas appliances for us is Gas Safe registered, which is a legal requirement for anyone installing or servicing gas equipment in the UK. You are entitled to ask to see the card on the doorstep and to check it against the Gas Safe Register, and you should do that with any firm you let into your home, us included.
Do you work in North and East London too?
Yes. Our registered office is on Lea Bridge Road in E10, so North and East London are home ground as well, and we cover Essex. South London is simply where the majority of our work currently comes from. Wherever you are across London or Essex, the same engineers do the job.
