Blocked sinks, toilets, baths, showers, kitchen waste and outside chambers across Hackney. A terrace yard and a shared stack are different visits. We quote before any work starts.
Hackney's houses change the drain visit in the same way they change a boiler job. A Victorian terrace in Stoke Newington, London Fields or Clapton is a long, narrow house. The inspection chamber is often in a small rear yard, sometimes under the paving, and the way to it is through the house or a side return rather than a front drive. A flat in Dalston, Hoxton, Shoreditch or a mansion block can have a waste that belongs to the flat and a stack or yard chamber that belongs to the building. Say which you are calling about before we quote.
The registered office is at 640 Lea Bridge Road, London E10 6AP, in Waltham Forest, beside this borough. The van parks on the street. If the chamber is at the back, tell us how we reach it when you call. A photo of the cover helps, and you do not need one to book.
The fitting that has stopped is only half the visit. The other half is whose drain it is, and how we reach the cover.
In Stoke Newington, London Fields and Clapton the inspection chamber is often in the rear yard. We take the cover off, check the chamber, and run the hose from the van when that is what the visit needs. If the chamber is at the back, that hose comes through the house. The cover goes back on before we leave.
A blocked sink, bath, shower or toilet inside the flat is that flat's waste, and that is work we can do. A stack shared with the floors above, or a chamber in a yard the freeholder controls, is not automatically yours to open. We work on what is yours. If the blockage is in the communal run, we stop and say so.
A gully in a side return can sit on the line between two houses. Tell us if the cover is yours, the neighbour's, or you are not sure. We ask before we lift it.
Hackney Road, De Beauvoir and Stoke Newington are conservation areas. That guidance is about flues and the outside of the building, which is a boiler question, not a drain cover in a private rear yard. A cover on the pavement, or in a yard shared with the building, may not be yours to open. Tell us where it is and we will say whether we can lift it.
